As the new life that is about to come into this world grows within the womb so as the belly that carries it. With this increase in the size of the belly comes the increase in the strain in the back caused by added weight. The added weight and the increase in the size of the belly alter the center of gravity. This causes the body to adapt.
Changes in the way a pregnant woman walks and stand, these things cause a strain in the lower back. A strain that has the end result of back pain.
There are things that you can do to decrease back pain. Accurate and appropriate posture is one technique to diminish back pain. A frequent practice of pregnant women is straining the muscles with erroneous posture. Leaning backward is ill advised. It is paramount to stand straight with the buttocks tucked under and the
shoulders placed at the back and lowered.
Finding a suitable sleeping position is another way. Providing support by utilizing pillows placed behind the abdomen and in between the knees will do the trick. Also, exercise should also be given importance. It is not only beneficial in adapting to the weight the mother is carrying but is also helping in the delivery of the baby. Exercise limits the weight gained by the pregnant mother thus reducing the strain on her back that causes back pain. Swimming and pre natal yoga are strongly recommended forms of exercises.
Massages may also dilute the effects of back pain. To women that find relief in
massage, a trained therapist in prenatal massages is very beneficial. And massage may also be utilized even during labor. Your doctor or your health care provider may know a good massage therapist that may cater your special needs.
Medications like pain relievers may also be utilized, provided that they are safe for pregnant women. Don't just take any pain reliever without first verifying the side effects it carries with it.
An appointment to the doctor or your health care provider when back pain is an occurrence is greatly suggested. No one can provide a much better recommendation than the expert advice of your doctor or midwife. They will evaluate and treat the back pain you are enduring.
